Our CLASS-rated teachers have a close working relationship with the Denver Preschool Program. Working within the framework of the school’s play-based curriculum, Steele staff members utilize nationally-recognized tools like Handwriting Without Tears to teach skills such as writing, letter, and print recognition; number awareness; and the emotional aptitude necessary for success in Kindergarten.
Director & Teacher
Vanessa has worked in early childhood education for almost 20 years, teaching at Steele Cooperative Preschool for four years and serving as Director for two. Vanessa attended the University of Hawaii and received her Director Certificate from Red Rocks Community College. She is Qualistar rated for implementing CLASS. Vanessa and her husband, Lester, live in Edgewater and both of their children graduated from Steele.
Assistant Director & Teacher
Lorelei has spent the last eleven years teaching at Steele, and taught kindergarten and first grade before that. She graduated from the University of Colorado and holds a Colorado Professional Teachers License, endorsed in both early childhood education and elementary education. Lorelei and her husband, Dave, are the proud parents of four children, all of whom are Steele graduates.
Debbie has worked in early childhood education for 20 years. Prior to Steele, she was a Jefferson County preschool teacher and worked with The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless as a kindergarten and preschool teacher. Debbie holds a degree from the College of Charleston and a Colorado Early Childhood Professional Credential Level 3.0. She and her husband, Mark, live in the Berkeley neighborhood with their two children.
